How Murrillo incorporates material, process, and meaning into such an impactful piece makes him my favorite artist of all time. The first thing that caught my eye was how heavy the brushstrokes drag across the canvas, leading me to envision tension behind Murrillo’s expressionism on this piece.

Murrillo’s ‘Untitled’ collection is featured in The Broad (Los Angeles), the Moderna Museet (Stockholm), and the Rubell Museum.
